Gus Anthony Lama
Gus Anthony Lama, 81, of Wichita Falls, passed away Sunday, May 4, 2014. Funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. Jack McKone, celebrant. Rite of Committal will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home of Wichita Falls.
Gus was born on May 24, 1932 in Bradford, Pa., to Francisco and Maria (Barbuto) Lama. On July 4, 1953, he married Teresa Hamilton. Gus proudly served our country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, and later served in the reserves. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. From 1949 to 1951, he worked as an inspector at Dresser Industries in Pennsylvania. He later worked in sales from 1956 to 1962 for Carnation Milk Co., 1962 to 1988 for Taystee Bread, and 1988 to 1994 for Rainbow Bread. After retirement, he worked for Cannedy Security, and Main Auto Parts for several years. Gus loved watching sports and western movies. He loved his family dearly, and was known to all.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and four brothers, Frank, Ralph, Tony, and Sammy.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jerri Lama; son, Jim Lama; daughter, Judy Heaston; daughter, Margaret McCoy all of Wichita Falls; son, Joey Lama and wife Julie of Vernon; son, Bobby Lama and wife Laura; son Pat Lama and wife Liz all of Wichita Falls; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and one on the way, and his niece, Lynnie Boyd of Wichita Falls.
Rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2014 in the chapel of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home of Wichita Falls.
