Mary Elizabeth Morrison Hutson was born April 8, 1914 in Erath County, Stephenville, Texas. She graduated from Vernon High School and married Henry Frederick (Fred) Hutson in November of 1937, He preceded her in death in 1984.
Mary was a lifelong resident of Vernon and passed away Sunday May 4, 2014 in Vernon. She was employed at M.E. Moses and became very interested in coordinating material and sewing for her family, especially her daughter and grandchildren. She was everyone’s caregiver, and that she carried over to her stay at Vernon Care Center, always looking after the best interest of the patients as well as the nurses. She had also worked at Vernon Care Center as an aide and at Woods Nursing Center and the State Hospital as a dietician.
She attended Second Baptist Church for over 60 years, serving as Sunday School teacher, pianist and organist. She was a very strong Christian with very high moral character and prayed for her family to have that same faith in Jesus her Savior. Her favorite Bible verse was Isaiah 40:31.
After her Savior, her husband and family were the joy of her life even when miles kept her from visiting. She constantly had all of them in her thoughts and wondered what and how they were doing.
Mary is survived by her children, Sarah Ellis of Vernon: Charles (Chuck )Hutson and wife Tessie of Burleson; seven grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren; approximately 23 nieces and nephews and her daughter-in-law and her spouse.
