QUANAH – Jimmy Edwards, 69, of Quanah, died on Tuesday, June 10, 2014, in Quanah. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm, Friday, June 13, 2014 at the First Christian Church. Interment will follow at Quanah Memorial Park under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Quanah,.
Edwards was born March 14, 1945 to the late James and Gladys Rockholt Edwards in Quanah. He attended Quanah High School. He served in the United States Army in Korea from 1963 to 1965 and was recognized as a sharp shooter. He retired from Georgia Pacific after 29 years of service. He raised beagles and fighting roosters for many years. He raised a beagle that was the National Champion. He restored and collected vintage cars and enjoyed hunting rattlesnakes.
He is survived by two daughters, Sherrie Finnerty of Quanah, and Denise Edwards, Texhoma; two sisters, Lynda Huffaker of White River and Beverly Reinhardt of Vernon, and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, James Leon Edwards; his mother, Gladys Odell Rockholt, and one brother, Leon Edwards.
