Gerald Kent Cato

Gerald is survived by his wife, Cheryl; sister, Evelyn Haynes; two nieces, RuthAnne Norman, Glenna Kaye Andrews, and nephew, John Glenn Haynes of Lubbock, Texas and many great nieces and nephews.  He is also survived by his stepson David Mitchell, his wife Judy of Bastrop, and their son and daughter, Josh Mitchell and Caitlin Mitchell Anderson, and by his daughter, Dara Cato Fisk and grandson, Bryan Fisk.    Gerald was a long time employee of Wyatt Industries and Wyatt Field Services of Dallas and Houston before retiring to Bastrop with Ruthjeanne in 1993. Here Gerald made many friends in the golfing communities of Pine Forest Golf Club, ColoVista Golf Club and many non-golfers in Bastrop.  In addition, Gerald made friends around the country while playing in the Sarazen Senior Flight of the Golf Channel Amateur Tour.  He won several trophies in his flight including the Sarazen Senior Flight Championship in 2009.
One of our greatest enjoyments in life was traveling around the country enjoying the scenery and playing golf, traveling to Europe, and bird watching around the country and in our own backyard while sitting in our rocking chairs.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at Fairview Cemetery in Bastrop with Rev. Lisa Hines officiating. A reception and celebration of Gerald’s  life will be held Friday evening from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on June 27, 2014 at Pine Forest Golf Club.
We appreciate the outpouring of love from his family and friends, the care of the Radiology Department at Scott and White Hospital in Temple, the VA in Austin, and Asera Care Hospice of Bastrop.
   Fly high, my dear one.
