Duane W. Naylor
Duane W. Naylor, 83 of Vernon, died on Friday, June 27, 2014, in Vernon. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be held at 3 p.m., at Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.
Duane was born Sunday, Dec. 21, 1930 in Donley County. He was the son of the late Thomas Earl Naylor and the late Thelma Lee Bain. He married Mae Morris on Oct. 12, 1951 in Clarendon. He had lived in Foard County until 1955 and later moved to Vernon in February of 1993. He served in the United States Army 1st Armored Division of Ft. Hood. He was a Master Mason, member of the Scottish Rite and York Rite Masons and Red Cross. He was a farmer and a state prison security officer. He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mae Morris Naylor of the home; three sons, Danny Naylor (Debbie) of Binger, Okla., Ronny Naylor (Lorie) of Granbury, and Richard Naylor (Vickie) of Amarillo; one daughter, Jonna Naylor (Wendy) of Wasilla, Ark.; one sister, Joyce Stewart of Marietta, Ga; eight grandchildren, Haley, Maegan, Erin, Kinsey, Michael, Royce, Rebecca and Kenny, and two great-grandchildren, Addisyn and Beckham.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, brother T.E. Naylor and step-father Royce Hall.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday, June 30, 2014 at Sullivan Funeral Home.
Memorials can be made to Vernon Masonic Lodge, Shiners Children’s Hospital or Wilbarger County Humane Society.
