Carri Lea Upton Pembroke

   Gainesville resident Carri Lea Upton Pembroke, 48, died Monday, Aug. 25, 2014 at her residence. She was born Oct. 16, 1965  in Irving. Carri was a Valley View High School graduate. She had worked for Security Gate Systems in Denton and Walmart in Gainesville until she became permanent care-giver in the home for her Mother. She liked golf and loved going to Rednecks with Paychecks in Saint Jo and going to concerts.  Carri was a member of Red River Christian Church in Gainesville.
   Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Aug. 29, at Meador-Clement-Keel Funeral Home Chapel, with Tom Cheaney officiating. Interment will be in Wilbarger Memorial Park, Vernon, Texas at 3 p.m. Friday.  Butch Martin, Chance O’Neal, Brad Price, Tell Harrison, Justin Caffey and Dillan Price will serve as pallbearers.  Honorary pallbearers will be Reece Callihan, Zac O’Neal, Kolten Price and Hagen Price.  Family visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home
   Survivors include father, Jack Upton and wife Karen of Kemp, Texas; mother, Clarenda West of Gainesville; aunt, Shirley Jean Upton Price of Vernon, and cousins, Brad Price of Duke, Okla., Chance O’Neal of Guthrie, and Jana O’Neal Brothers of Paducah. Carri is also survived by step-sisters, Carrie West Cheaney of Gainesville and Shanna Staring Nilius of Canton, and step-brothers, Brandon Staring of Houston and Blake Staring of Tyler.  She was preceded in death by grandparents, Leon and Ethelyn Upton and Dude and Lois Barnett; step-father, Ben West; aunt, Linda Upton, and uncle, Charles Barnett.
