Bill Gene Gunter
WICHITA FALLS – Bill Gene Gunter, 84, of Wichita Falls, died on Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 31, 2014, at the Allendale Baptist Church with the Rev. Warren Hall officiating. Interment with Masonic Rites will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014, at Eastview Cemetery in Vernon under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home.
Gunter was born on Oct. 12, 1929 in Thalia, a son of the late Nep Bartow and Asberry Jefferson Gunter. He was a 1948 graduate of South Lockett High School. He retired from Lone Star Gas where he worked as an investigator. He was a member of the Allendale Baptist Church, American Legion Post 125, where he served as chaplain for many years, and was a Master Mason at Faith Lodge #1158 for over 50 years. He was an active community volunteer.
He is survived by his wife, Pat Gunter; two daughters, Judy Gunter of Wichita Falls, and Joni Orris of Patterson, Calif., one grandchild; four great-grandchildren; five stepchildren, step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Gwenda Lee Gunter, and five siblings, Grace Gunter, Glen Gunter, Polly Hill, Ruth Thompson and Don Gunter.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 30, at Owens & Brumley Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls or the Allendale Baptist Church Endowment Fund.
