Charlene Chandler Ayers

   Charlene Chandler Ayers departed this earth in the arms of her loving daughters on the morning of Aug. 30, 2014. She was the eldest daughter of Dr. Charles and Mamie Chandler. She was born Nov. 12, 1919 in Hamilton County, Texas. Charlene attended the University of Texas and was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. She married John W. Ayers on March 7, 1943 at the First Presbyterian Church in Dallas, Texas. They resided on the Ayers Ranch in Chillicothe, Texas most of their lives and recently moved to the Dallas area to be close to their children.
   Charlene is survived by her loving husband of 71 years, John W. Ayers; daughters, Anne Ayers Wiginton and husband Denton Wiginton of Plano, and
Jane Ayers Walter and husband Kenneth Walter of Dallas; three grandchildren, Cullen Wiginton and wife Jan, Brad Wiginton and wife Cassie, and Lee Nelson and husband Jeffrey; five great-grandchildren, Parker and Charlene Wiginton, Ayers, Sam, and Hunt Nelson, along with several nieces, nephews and other loving relatives.
  She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Charles and Mamie Chandler, and sister,
Joyce Chandler Martin.
   Charlene’s life was one of giving to and caring for others. The family asks that you
honor her by volunteering your time or making a memorial contribution to your favorite charity.
   Funeral services will be Saturday, September 6, 2014 at 11 a.m., at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dave Treat officiating. Interment will be at Chillicothe Cemetery under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.
