Gene Woolf

   A. Gene Woolf, 74 of Vernon, died on Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2014, in Wichita Falls. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Sept. 5, 2014 at Zion Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Rev. Kenneth Bersche. Interment will be held at Wilbarger Memorial Park under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.
   Gene was born Tuesday, Nov. 28, 1939 in Vernon. He was the son of the late E.A. Woolf and the late Edna Alene Noack Woolf. He married Bettye Lehman on Nov. 25, 1962 in Lockett. She preceded him in death on Aug. 22, 2000. He later married Joyce Richie on Feb. 16, 2001 in Vernon. He had lived all of his life in Vernon He had been a farmer all of his life. He was in the Army National Guard 1959 to 1961 in the artillery. He was a member of American Legion, VFW in Vernon. He was a member of Vernon High School Band Booster Club, past president of Farm Bureau, Farm Bureau State Pioneer Award, and Vernon Farmers Market Onion King of Wilbarger County. He attended Texas Tech and Midwestern State University. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, and an elder of the Church, on the Building and Grounds Committee  and Zion BBQ. He was very active in all church activities.
   He is survived by his wife, Joyce Woolf of the home; one son, Ricky Woolf and wife, Karen, of Baytown; two daughters, Cheryl Conoly and husband, Marty, of Floresville, and Rhonda Woolf Bickers and husband, Jay, of Weatherford; stepchildren, Karla Pinder, Rick Pinder, and John Wayne Anderson; grandchildren, Chance Walker, Brittany Walker, Matt Conoly, Randall Woolf, Tiffany Woolf, Bethany Woolf, John B. Anderson, and Johnny Bickers; great-grandchildren, Daniel Levario, and Daniel Florio.
   He was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Ann Williams.
   Visitation will be Thursday, Sept. 4, 2014 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., in the home at 15271 FM RD 2073.
   Memorials can be made to Zion Lutheran Church.
   Pallbearers will be Matt Conoly, Chance Walker, Randall Woolf, Jeff Lehman, Steve Jansa, Jack Whipple, Alvin Lingnau and Eddie Graham.
