Doris June Coates
FREDERICK, Okla. – A memorial service for Doris June Goodknight Coates, 59, of Denton, who died on Thursday, Sept. 18, 2014 in Denton, will be at held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014, at Jackson Funeral Chapel in Frederick, Okla., with the Rev. Les Banks officiating. Interment will follow in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home.
Coates was born on Feb. 25, 1955 in Frederick, Okla. to Howard and Lois (Reed) Goodknight. She attended Frederick Public Schools, transferring to Gene Autry, Okla. before moving to Davidson where she graduated with the class of 1973. She married Walter Duane Coates on July 14, 1973 at First Baptist Church in Davidson, Okla. Coates worked many years for Mr. Burger, Ribs and More, and Walmart in Vernon. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Vernon. She lived in Frederick, Okla. and Vernon before moving to Denton in 2007.
She is survived by her husband of the home; three daughters, Michelle Roquemore of Mesquite and Amber Mumford, Ivy Hollingsworth of Dalhart; three brothers, Earl Goodknight of Davidson Okla., Robert Goodknight of Wichita Falls, and Walter Goodknight of San Benito; seven grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents , and one sister Mary Helen Goodknight.
