Billy Roper
CEDAR LAKE – Billy Roper, 62, of Cedar Lake, Okla., died on Oct. 13, 2014, at Clinton, Okla. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Oct. 16, 2014 Ft. Sill National Cemetery officiated by Rusty McMullen. Interment will be at Ft. Sill National Cemetery under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service
Roper was born July 30, 1952 in Corona, Calif., a son of Loretha and Ray Roper. He attended school at Thomas, Okla., where he was a member of the 1969 State Champion Thomas Terrier football team. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Roper was stationed at Shepherd Air Force in Wichita Falls and Altus Air Force Base in Altus, Okla. After his discharge, he worked at Wal-Mart in El Reno until he retired in 2009. Roper made his home at Cedar Lake near Hinton, Okla. He was a member of the Lawton Church of the Nazarene where he played on the church softball team.
He is survived by one son, Robert of Cedar Lake, Okla.; his parents, Ray and Loretha Roper of Sayre, Okla., one brother, Mike Roper of Cedar Lake, Okla., and other family members.
