Essie May O’Neal

   QUANAH – Essie May O’Neal, 85, of Quanah, died on Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2014, in Quanah. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 18, 2014 at the First Christian Church with Rev. Wayne Hollinshead officiating.  Interment will follow at Quanah Memorial Park under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Quanah.
   O’Neal was born May 5, 1929 to the late Adolphus and Louise Smith Huff in Silverton. She married Frank O’Neal, Jr., on Jan. 27, 1946 in Quanah. He preceded her in death on May 12, 2010.  She was a resident of Hardeman County for 70 years. She was an avid quilter and a member of the First Christian Church.
   She is survived by three daughters, Bertha Woods of Quanah, Kathy Miller of Rosebud and Christie Riley of Quanah; six sons, Alfred (Nicky) O’Neal of Quanah, Cotton O’Neal of Quanah, Ricky O’Neal of Quanah, Allen O’Neal of Quanah, Jody O’Neal of Valliant, Okla., and Jimmy O’Neal of Quanah; 25 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank O’Neal Jr.; a daughter, Patsy Mayfield; and three granddaughters, Carey Lee Mayfield, Audra Beth O’Neal   And Ashlyn Miller   The family has requested memorials be sent to Hospice of Wichita Falls or the First Christian Church of Quanah.
   Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., on Friday, Oct. 17, 2014 at Smith Funeral Home.
