George Garza

   QUANAH – George Garza, 79, of Quanah, died, Monday, Oct. 13, 2014, in Quanah. Memorial Services will be at 2 p.m., Friday, Oct. 17, 2014 at the Chapel at Smith Funeral Home with Rev. Monte Lumpkin and Rev. Wayne Hollinshead officiating.
   Garza was born May 8, 1935 in Poth to the late Pilar and Guadalupe Martinez Garza. He grew up in Kennedy. He married Sue Guerra in 1952. He moved to Groesbeck Creek in 1952 where he farmed. He also farmed for Tabor Ranch in Goodlett. He owned and operated Garza’s Texaco in Quanah for several years. He attended Goodlett Baptist Church.
   He is survived by one daughter, Linda Faye Garza of Quanah; three sons, Bennie George Garza of Quanah,  Pila Pete Garza of Higgins and James Matthew Garza of Vernon as well as 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Walter Baltazar Garza of Amarillo, and one sister, Lily Reyna of Amarillo. He was preceded in death by his mother, Guadalupe Martinez; his father, Pilar Garza, and two brothers, Idisdoro Garza and Manuel Garza.
   Memorials made be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls or the American Heart and Lung Association.
