Bennie Lee Vann
Bennie Lee Vann, 89 of Odessa, died on Wednesday, October 15, 2014, in Odessa. Funeral services will be held at 11 a,m, Monday, Oct. 20, 2014 at Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Wallace Clay. Interment will be held at Eastview Cemetery under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.
Bennie was born Saturday, July 25, 1925 in Vernon. He was the son of the late William Ben Vann and the late Rosie Lee Coones Vann. He married Clara Vivian Talley on Dec. 25, 1944 in Frederick, Okla. She preceded him in death May 17, 2000. He served in the U,S, Army during WW II from 1943-1944. He was a Purple Heart recipient. He was a life time member of the American Legion Post 42, and a life time member of Veterans of Foreign War. He retired from the National Park Service.
He is survived by special friend, Sue Compton of Odessa; his son, Danny L. Vann and wife, Holly, of Odessa; his daughter, Virginia Kay Bice and husband, Joe, of Dewey, Ariz., one brother, Barton Vann of Runaway Bay, Texas; five grandsons, Troy Bice (Rhonda), Aaron Bice (Linda), Bennie Vann (Trish), Danny Lee Vann, Jr. (Krystal), and Timothy M. Vann; one granddaughter, Shellene Cooke of Dallas; 16 great-grandchildren , one great-great-grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 8p.m., Sunday. Oct. 19, 2014 at Sullivan Funeral Home.
Memorials can be made to American Heart Association.
Pallbearers will be Troy Bice, Aaron Bice, Shawn Cooke, Bennie James Vann, Danny Lee Vann, Jr., and Dallas Cooke.
