Charlie Mae Graves
CHILLICOTHE – Charlie Mae Graves, 87 of Chillicothe, died on Monday, Oct. 27, 2014, in Chillicothe. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014 at the First Baptist Church in Chillicothe. Officiating will be Rev. Robert Thomas and Rev. Ron Fox. Interment will be held at Chillicothe Cemetery under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home, Vernon.
Graves was born Friday, Feb. 18, 1927 in Fort Worth. She was the daughter of the late Charlie Lee and the late Rosalee Owen Lee. She married Eddie Joe Graves on Dec. 10, 1945 in Quanah. He preceded her in death on Jan. 15, 2009. She had lived most of her life in Chillicothe. She had retired from the Chillicothe Hospital. She had worked for Stein-Hall Compress in Altus. She also worked as a nanny and a homemaker. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Chillicothe and 1st St. Matthew Baptist Church.
She is survived by her sons, Audie Graves and Lawrence Graves, both of Tulsa, Okla.; Charles Graves, Billy Graves, Lonnie Graves, Lorenzo Graves, Walter Graves and Johnny Graves, all of Chillicothe, and Eddie Graves of Vernon; her daughters, Joan Graves, Dianne Graves and Melissa Graves, all of Chillicothe; Linda Graves of Vernon; Peggy Graves of Martha, Okla.; Charlene McGregor of Kansas City, Mo., and Paulene Jesse of Tulsa, Okla., as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; daughters, Johnnie Mae Chappell and Kristy Kay Graves and sons, Clarence E. Norice and Tommy Gene Graves.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, Oct. 31, 2014 at Smith Chapel in Chillicothe.
Pallbearers will be Kelvin Graves, Nicholas Graves, Denzel Graves, Drimitri Graves, Isaiah Ross and Dominick Ross.
