George Alvin Chastain

   George Alvin Chastain, 94, of Sweetwater passed away on Monday, Dec. 1, 2014, in Sweetwater. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Dec. 5, 2014, in the McCoy Chapel of Memories. The Rev. Jake Wade will officiate. Interment will be in Sweetwater Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home in Sweetwater.
   George was born Aug. 11, 1920 in Ovalo, a son of George Hubert Chastain and Willie Mae Davis. He married Frances Modene Barnes on Dec. 23, 1929 in Merkel. He was a member of the Highland Heights Methodist Church, served in the United States Navy during World War II and worked as a craftsman with Henson’s Flooring.
   He is survived by two daughters, Frances Brown and husband, Roland, of Sweetwater, and Linda Lightfoot and husband, Robert, of Vernon; one son, George Don Chastain and wife, Becky, of Georgetown; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Hubert Chastain and Willie Mae Davis, and his wife, Frances Modene Barnes Chastain.
   Pallbearers will be Brent Lightfoot, Charles Lightfoot, Scott Chastain, John Pelath, David Pinkerton and Jeremy Edmiston.
   Visitation will be from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 4, at the funeral home.
