Katherine Marie Amend, 58 of Buda, Texas , passed away on Friday, Dec. 12, 2014 at Seton Hospital in Kyle, Texas. She was the wife of James Amend. They shared 36 years of marriage together.
Born in Vernon Texas, on July 6, 1956 she was the daughter of Judith Castleberry and Sam Judd. She graduated from Vernon High School, and went on to attend Texas Tech University in Lubbock. She met and married soon after college and was a devoted housewife and mother.
She was a member of Trinity Fellowship Church in Amarillo, and served many years in the children’s ministry. She loved the Lord with all of her heart. She studied the Bible, and her life reflected the love of Jesus. She loved riding and training horses and had dreams of training horses for a living. She worked many years at the Amarillo Stockyards. Some of her other hobbies included gardening, sewing, cooking, reading, and she was a gifted artist. She was an avid cook and loved spending time with her family and having parties. She will be most remembered by her faith, her kind, generous heart and loving spirit. Kathy performed every task to the best of her ability. She always made others’ needs a priority over her own. She carried a mantle of wisdom and sound advice. She had such a strong spirit and she loved life. She was very fun to be around and was very much the life of the party. She will be missed as a dear friend, a mother, a wife and sister. Kathy was the best at all of her roles.
She is survived by her husband, James Amend, her daughter Jennifer Tietz and husband Billy, daughter Judith Amend, and daughter Jamie Amend- Waterbury and husband David, brother Sam Judd and wife Renee, a very special Aunt, Avis Judd, five grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014 at Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Toby Castleberry. Interment will be held at Amen Cemetery under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2014 at Sullivan Funeral Home.
