Raymond Heershel Renfro

   Raymond Hershel “Ray” Renfro, 91 of Vernon, died on Saturday, Dec. 27, 2014, in Wichita Falls. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Monday, Jan. 5, 2015 at 11:00 at Wilbarger Street Church of Christ. Officiating will be Dave Winn and Randy Hughes. Interment will be held at Wilbarger Memorial Park under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.
   Renfro was born Friday, March 9, 1923 in Atoka, Okla. He was the son of the late Robert Earl Renfro and the late Bessie Vivian Farr Renfro. He married Goldie June Duewall on Sept.24, 1944 in Henrietta. She preceded him in death on Oct. 26, 2011. He moved to Vernon in 1952 from Dallas. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII He was an expert rifleman. He fought in battles in the Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands, Saipan and the Marianas Island. He also carried the BAR (Browning Automatic Rifle) for the platoon.. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was a retired owner of Renfro Electric Motor Co. of Vernon. He was a member of the Wilbarger Street Church of Christ and was a former church elder at the Paradise Street Church of Christ.
   He is survived by  one daughter, Nancy Sue Renfro of Vernon; two sons, Raymond Lee Renfro of Vernon and Michael Wade Renfro of Lake Kemp; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by a son, John Robert Renfro on Nov. 9, 2004, three sisters and two brothers.
   Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 4, 2015 at at Sullivan Funeral Home.
   Memorials can be made to the Wounded Warriors Program.
