Mary Ann Sullivan Russell

   Mary Ann Sullivan Russell, 88, died peacefully in Georgetown, Texas Jan. 24, 2015.  Entombment services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 28, at Wilbarger Memorial Park under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home in Vernon, Texas. Officiating will be Rev. Dave Treat.
   Mary Ann was born in Vernon, Texas on Aug. 14, 1926 , to Jewel (Sweatmon) and Linton Sullivan.  She graduated from Vernon High School and attended Trinity University and graduated from Colorado College in 1948. She also studied in Mexico. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma.
   She married Roy Kenneth Russell on June 4, 1948 in Annapolis, Maryland.  They lived in various areas in the United States, but in 1967 they returned to Texas and resided in Fort Worth.
   While in Fort Worth, Mary Ann was very involved in the Kimball Art Museum, devoting many hours volunteering as an art docent.  She and Roy traveled extensively which gave her the ability to further develop her love of the arts. She was a member of the Fort Worth Women’s Club, and a very active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Fort Worth.   She enjoyed playing bridge with her many friends and needlepointing.
   One of the greatest joys she and Roy had was their home at Possum Kingdom Lake.  They hosted numerous family reunions and enjoyed every opportunity to spend time there with friends and especially family.
   Mary Ann is survived by her son Jim Russell and his wife Cheryl of Georgetown, grandchildren: Matthew Russell and Tracy Galimore of Houston, Becky Williams of San Antonio, and Lisa Hart of Katy, four great-grandchildren and three nieces.
   Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband, son, Ken Russell, her parents and brothers, Charles and James Sullivan.
   Visitation will be Wednesday, Jan., 28 at 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. before service time at Sullivan Funeral Home.
