Gene R. Crabtree

   QUANAH – Gene R. Crabtree, 84 of Quanah, TX, passed away, Friday, Jan. 30, 2015, in Quanah. Services will be at 10 a.m., Monday, Feb. 2, 2015 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Joseph Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Quanah Memorial Park under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Quanah.
   Mr. Crabtree was born May 30, 1930 to the late John and Lorene Childers Crabtree in Tennessee Valley, TX. He married Coweta Lynch in Goodlett. He retired as a maintenance supervisor for the Texas Department of Transportation. He served in the United States Army and was a member of the VFW. He was a member of Parkview Baptist Church.
   He is survived by two daughters, Tina Edwards and husband Billy of Quanah, and Janett Dunn and husband Al of Gonzales, La.; two brothers, Johnny Crabtree of Lubbock and Larry Crabtree of Childress; two sisters, Nina Brown of Childress and June Head of Childress; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded by one daughter, Linda Evans in 2003; one brother and two sisters.
   The family has requested memorials be sent to Senior Citizens of Quanah.
   The family visitation will be at Smith Funeral Home from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb.1, 2015.
