Monty Brown

Monty Brown lost his valiant battle against leukemia and passed away March 1, 2015 at Scott & White Medical Center in Temple, Texas.
Monty was born Oct. 7, 1958, in Dalhart, Texas, to Doug and June Brown. The family later moved to Vernon, Texas where Monty attended schools, then moved to Odessa, Texas where he graduated from Odessa High School in 1975. Monty attended Vernon College and continued his education by completing Aviation Prop School.
Monty had many talents. His unique mechanical skills included being able to take apart and reassemble about anything, whether it was the family lawn mower he disassembled at age 10, or the Barracuda race car he and his long time friend, John Carter, built and re-built several times.  Monty enjoyed working on drag racing boats along- side his friend, Randall Roberts.  Monty was a longtime member of the Corvette Club, Bottom-Time Dive Club, and most recently, the Heart of Texas Beekeepers Club, all in Waco, Texas.  He held numerous pilot license ratings and FAA mechanical certifications.
Monty was an avid motorcycle rider, traveling through many states on numerous trips. He never met a stranger including Jill who he met while riding motorcycles.
Monty and Jill were both advanced scuba divers who enjoyed spending time with their dear friends, traveling to Curacao and other locations for fun and adventure.
Beekeeping was another passion that Monty and Jill shared. Together they started Diamond Bee Apiaries in Lorena, Texas.
Monty worked at Sunbelt Aviation, Inc. and managed the prop repair station in McGregor.  For the past 18 years he has worked at Ram Aircraft serving as parts sales manager. As a result of both work and hobbies, Monty had friends from all over the world. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Monty is survived by his spouse, Jill Saxon of the home, a daughter, Monica Brown and Brett, of Mineral Wells, sister Nancy Sosolik and Benton of Waco, brother Steve Brown and Jan, of Vernon, brother Alan Brown and Charlotte, of Texarkana, Jill’s daughter, Chelsea Copeland and Spencer, of Houston, four grandchildren, and his parents, Doug and June Brown, of Omaha, Texas. Monty is also survived by numerous cousins, aunts and uncles.
We will miss him and find comfort in great memories of him.  He will forever be honored in our hearts.  Memorials may be made to Carter Blood Care Development Dept., 2205 Highway 121, Bedford, Tx. 76201, or online at carterbloodcare.org, or to the charity of your choice.
