Reva Lewelll Shelton Adams
Reva Lewell Shelton Adams, of Temple, Texas passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2015 at a local hospital. She was born on June 3, 1923 in Odell, Texas to William Forrest and Fay Wynn Shelton.
A lifelong teacher, Reva received her Bachelor’s degree from West Texas State University and her Master’s degree from the University of North Texas. She taught business and accounting at Howard College in Big Springs, Texas for 30 years, and was designated a Professor Emeritus in 1989. In retirement she enjoyed traveling with her late husband, Billy, and attending Retired Teachers’ Association meetings and playing in her weekly domino game. In recent years she especially enjoyed keeping up with the Baylor women’s basketball team and researching and talking genealogy with her late sister, Martha, and her cousin Holly Marie Winston.
Reva was preceded in death by her husband Billy Mac Adams, her sister Martha Shelton Bell and her brother Billy Radford Shelton. She is survived by her nephews Terry Bell, Carey Shelton and Hugh Shelton, a niece Sherry Isbell, numerous cousins, and close family friend and honorary cousin Danny Brown. The family owes special thanks to the Visiting Angels, especially including Regina Williams, for the care they provided Reva in the last months of her life.
A memorial service will take place on Friday, May 1, 2015 at 11 a.m., at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home, 3110 Airport Road, Temple, Texas, ph. 254-899-8888.
