Doris White, 68, of Vernon, Texas, died on Thursday, July 2, 2015 in Wichita Falls. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., on Monday, July 6, 2015 at the Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Toby Castleberry and the Rev. Brian Pounds officiating. Interment will follow at Eastview Cemetery under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.
Doris was born on Jan. 21, 1947 in Slaton. She was the daughter of the late J.W. Starkes and Ruth Norwood Starkes. She married Carl White on June 19, 1964 in Lubbock. Doris had lived in Vernon for most of her life. She had been the bookkeeper for White’s Sporting Goods and was a member of the Wilbarger General Hospital Ladies Auxiliary. She had attended the First Assembly of God Church. She was a homemaker.
Surviving is her husband, Carl White of the home; mother, Ruth Starkes of Lubbock; two sons, Mark White and wife, Jennifer, of Longview; Brett White and wife, Jana, of Frederick, Okla.; daughter, Tamra Truman and husband, Alex, of Grapevine; two brothers, Frank Starkes of Granbury and Troy Starkes and wife, Peggy, of Lubbock; four grandsons, Cade White, Kase White, Gage White and Brylee White; five granddaughters, Tatum Crawford, Murphy Crawford, Jobee White, Taylor White and Emma White; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Brenda Starkes, in 1970.
Visitation will be held on Sunday July 5, 2015 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren: Cade, Kase, Gage, Brylee, Jobee, Taylor and Emma White and Tatum and Murphy Crawford.
Memorials may be made to the Wilbarger General Hospital Dialysis Unit.
