Vera Phillips

   Vera Phillips, 102, of Vernon, died on Wednesday July 15, 2015 in Vernon. Graveside service will be held at 10 a.m., on Monday July 20, 2015 at the Chillicothe Cemetery with Rev. Ron Fox officiating. Services are under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.
   Phillips was born on Aug. 31, 1912 in Hopkins, County, Texas. She was the daughter of the late Loomis Vennie Burkhart and the late Freddie Brook Lynch Burkhart. She married Alvie Phillips and he preceded her in death on Dec. 31, 1942. She had worked for Hughes Cleaners doing alterations for many years and also at Kelso Cleaners. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church and was a homemaker.
   She is survived by her daughter, B.J. Eagleston of Wichita Falls; one brother, Murry Burkhart of Weatherford; two sisters, Maude Webb of Paris, Texas, and Billye Beal of Inola, Okla.; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Jerry Phillips and Jackie Phillips; four brothers, Leroy Burkhart, Bob Burkhart, Ivan Burkhart, and Dick Burkhart and a sister Ruth Ivan.
   Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., on Sunday July 19, 2015 at the funeral home.
   Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
   Pallbearers will be Jacob Dawson, Allen Eagleston, Colton Cooper, Preston Lacy, Terry Cooper, David Lacy and Tony Laird.
