Roy Keith Burkhart, 68 of Vernon, died on Monday, July 27, 2015, in Wichita Falls. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 30, 2015 at 10 a.m. at Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Gib Baskerville. Interment will be held at Wilbarger Memorial Park under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.
Roy was born Tuesday, Sept. 3, 1946 in Vernon. He was the son of Leroy Burkhart and the late Wilma Oletha Hand Burkhart. He married Ann Carnahan on Feb. 14, 1976 in Vernon. He had been a resident of Vernon all of his life. He retired from North Texas State Hospital. He was an avid fisherman and loved John Wayne Westerns. He was a Dallas Cowboy fan but most of all he loved his grandkids and great- grandkids. He was a member of First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Burkhart of the home; two daughters, Kaylynn Rodriquez and husband Josh of Vernon, and Sherry Heard of Wichita Falls; his sister, Inell James and husband Marvin of Vernon; six grandchildren, Greg Nava, Kayden Rodriquez, J.W. Rodriquez, Jordan Danielle Vandiver, Jimmy Freeman and Donavan Heard; two great-grandchildren, Daniel Freeman and Cheston Keith Freeman. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Linda Sue Ward.
Visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at Sullivan Funeral Home.
