Donovan “Don” C. Grant

   Donovan “Don” C. Grant passed away surrounded by his loving family at Dallas Methodist Hospital on July 29, 2015 at the age of 75.
   Funeral service: Monday, Aug 3, 2015 at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church chapel in Vernon with Pastor Tom Long officiating. A private interment will be held at a later date. Don is preceded in death by his father, Clarence A. Grant; mother Gladys Nelson Grant and sister, Marilyn Grant Larsen.
   Don is survived by Susan of the home, his loving wife of nearly 46 years; two daughters, Tammy Eldridge and husband Greg of Kansas City, Missouri and Tara Martin and husband Greg of Lake Worth, Texas; his sisters Janet Maxwell of Sioux City, Iowa and Barb Kelly and husband Paul of Sioux City, Iowa; five grandchildren: Emaleigh Smith, Joshua Eldridge, Peyton Martin, Reagan Martin and Haven Martin. He also had numerous nieces and nephews.
   Don was born in Isle, Minnesota on July 18, 1940. He graduated from East High School in Sioux City, Iowa in 1958. Don proudly served in the Marine Corps from 1958 to 1961. Don married Susan A. Cartee from Maysville, Missouri on Sept. 6, 1969 in St. Joseph, Missouri. He was employed by Armour Foods for 25 years and retired from Wright Brand Foods (Tyson) in 2007. Don was a volunteer at United Samaritan Services of Vernon. Don enjoyed playing golf, and he was a stained glass artist. He took pride in his lawn and was an avid reader. He loved traveling with his wife. Most of all he loved his grandchildren and Bichon Friese, Muffie.
In honor of Don, memorial donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Vernon Youth Group.
