Violet Mae (Maeda) Carey Davis

   Violet Mae (Maeda) Carey Davis, 89, died on Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2015 in McKinney. A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 6, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Bil Barkley officiating.  Interment followed at the Justiss Cemetery under direction of Bates-Cooper-Sloan Funeral Home.
   Davis was born July 30, 1926, in Clarksville, Texas to Albert Monroe and Lola Mae Newman Carey.
   She is survived by her three children:  Vicki Pennington of Vernon,  Brian James (BJ) Davis of The Woodlands, and Robin Alsop of Allen; her brother, Gerald Carey of Avery; sister, Marsha Carey Poole of Arlington; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces,  an uncle and two aunts. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Lola Mae Carey; a brother, Albert Monroe Carey, Jr.; and her husband James Henry Davis.
   Pallbearers included James Aaron Davis, Andrew Pennington, Stuart Alsop, Coker Roswell, Taylor Newman, Bruce Carey and Curtis Wayne Carey.  Woodrow Davis and Jim Pennington were honorary pallbearers.
   Memorials may be made to a favorite charity or to Mission: Dignity, a fund for retired Southern Baptist ministers and their spouses or widows.  Gifts may be mailed to the attention of:
