Ireland Scott Jr.

   Ireland Scott, Jr., 81 of Vernon, died on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016, in Vernon. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016 at Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Bishop Michael L. Collins. Interment will be held at Wilbarger Memorial Park under the direction of Sullivan funeral Home.
   Scott was born on Sunday, Feb.  4, 1934 in Jacksonville, Texas.  He was the son of the late Ireland Scott, Sr.  and the late Annie Mae Francis  Scott. He married Hattie Noble on July 9, 1960 in Vernon.  He moved to Vernon when he was five years old. He was a graduate of Booker T. Washington School in Vernon. He worked for Waggoner Estate for 55 years, retiring on Sept. 30, 2015 as a foreman and maintenance supervisor. He was a member of St. James Christian Methodist Episcopal Church serving as deacon, trustee and treasurer for many years.
   He is survived by his wife, Hattie Scott of the home; son, Ireland Scott III of Vernon; daughters, Patricia Scott of Irving, Deana Bailey of Vernon and Velma Phillips of Fort Worth; six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Bennie D. Scott, Leo Scott and Charlie Joe Williams, and one sister, Vera Cherry Richardson.
   Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., on Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2016 at Sullivan Funeral Home.
