Lester L. Hunter
Lester L. Hunter, 88 of Vernon died on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016, in Vernon. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2016 at 2 p.m., at Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ron Fox officiating. Interment will follow at Eastview Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.
Hunter was born Friday, Feb. 25, 1927 in Sylvia, Kan. He was the son of the late William Jean Hunter and the late Jessie Mae Belote Hunter. He married Hazel Jo Baldwin on Sept. 4, 1948 in Vernon. She preceded him in death on Feb. 7, 2012. He had been a Vernon resident since 1947. He served in the U.S. Army from 1946-1948 as an infantryman. He was a member at the Western Trail Cowboy Church and Calvary Baptist Church. He had been a welder.
Surviving are one daughter, Fernie Hunter Thaxton of Vernon, three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation or Hospice of Wichita Falls.
Visitation will be held on Monday, Feb. 1, 2016 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
