Bernerd Roger (B.R.) Foster Jr.

   QUANAH – Bernerd Roger (B.R). Foster Jr., 95, of Quanah, died on Monday, Feb. 1, 2016, in Quanah. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016 at The First Baptist Church with Rev. Joseph Jones and Rev. Wayne Hollinshead officiating. Interment will follow at Goodlett Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.   
   Foster was born April 7, 1920 to the late Bernerd Roger and Maude St. Clair Foster. He married Doris Driver Foster on Aug. 3, 1947 in Quanah. She preceded him in death on Oct. 28, 2015. He spent two years at Texas Tech before joining the U.S. Army Air Corps.  He was commissioned as a 1st Lt., and he piloted a B-25 during World War II. He was stationed in the Philippine Islands.  He was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation and the Distinguished Flying Cross. At the end of the war, he returned to Texas Tech where he was active in the Centaur Fraternity and the Saddle Tramps athletic spirit club.  He graduated from Tech in 1946 with a degree in Business Administration and began his career with the Quanah Cotton Oil Company as a bookkeeper. He continued to work for the Quanah Cotton Oil Company and retired as General Manager in 1968 after 40 years.  He was an active member of the Quanah Rotary Club, serving as president in 1971-72 and served on the board of the Quanah Housing Authority. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Quanah and taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, served on many committees, served as church treasurer, and as a deacon.
   He is survived by three daughters, Janis Singletary of Quanah, Kathi Beimer of Quanah, and Lyndi Shadbolt of Amarillo; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
   Visitation  will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., on Saturday, Feb. 6, at the Fellowship Hall at the First Baptist Church.
   Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Quanah Music Department.
