L.D. Metzner
L.D. Metzner, 85 of Vernon, died on Friday, Feb. 19, 2016, in Vernon, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Feb. 26, 2016 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Holy Family Catholic Chapel in Wichita Falls with Father Sojan George officiating. Interment will be held at Eastview Cemetery under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.
L.D. was born Sunday, May 11, 1930 in Deshler, Ohio. He was the son of the late Grover Brown Metzner and the late Faye Corella Kissell Metzner. He married Evelyn Andrzejewski in July 1954 in Maumee, Ohio. She preceded him in death on Nov. 22, 2010. He had lived in Vernon since 2008 moving from Deshler, Ohio. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and served at the White Sands Missile Range. He worked as a Skill Trade Mill Wright Mechanic and for Campbell Soup Co. and Ford Motor Co. He retired from Burlington and Northern Railroad. He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Wichita Falls.
He is survived by his daughter, Mary Fay Byersmith of Vernon; one grandchild, Mykel David Byersmith; a brother, William Metzner, and a sister, Helen Metzner. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Christine Ann Metzner.
Rosary will be held at 7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 25, 2016 at Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel in Vernon with Deacon Jim Bindel officiating.
