Sylvia Mary Wetherred

   CROWELL – Sylvia Mary Weatherred, 94, died on Thursday, March 3, 2016, in Crowell. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, March 7, 2016, in Womack-Manard Funeral Home Chapel of Crowell. Officiating will be the Rev. Damon Stalvey, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Crowell, assisted by the Rev. Ken Rowland of Crowell. Interment will follow in the Crowell Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Womack-Manard Funeral Home of Crowell.
   Weatherred was born on Feb. 24, 1922 in Milton Ernest, Bedfordshire, England, a daughter of the late Walter George and Dorthy Bertha Cotton Willars.  She married James Weatherred on Oct. 13, 1943 in Milton Ernest, Bedfordshire, England. She had lived in the United States since 1945. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Crowell. She was a Pvt. First Class and served as a radio operator during World War II from 1942 to 1945.
   She is survived by one son, Michael John Weatherred of Crowell; one daughter, Sandra Lynn Adcock of Crowell; two brothers, Gerald Willars and George Willars, both of England; one sister, Delcie Prather of Paducah; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Baylor Weatherred, on June 10, 2006; one son, Stephen James Weatherred on Jan. 26, 1998; one granddaughter, Tricia Bowen, and four brothers, John Willars, Donald Willars, Ivor Willars and Aubrey Willars.
   Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Crowell.
   Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., Sunday, March 6, 2016, at Womack-Manard Funeral Home in Crowell.
