Rita Bacon
Rita Bacon was born in Mold, Wales May 21 to Henry and Margaret (Williams) Thomas.
She grew up in Mold and was adored by all her older siblings. She was introduced to James C. (Chick) Bacon by her brother, and they were married on June 2, 1945 in Wales as a War Bride and came to America shortly after.
Rita assisted in raising her husband’s brother and sisters Jerry, Joy and Sandra. She took pride and was very talented in herself taught sewing, knitting and needlepoint and made many booties and clothes for children.
While in Vernon Rita began working at a jewelry store and Mr. Waggoner came in and offered her work at the WT Waggoner Estate where she retired after 37 years as a loyal employee and friend to all.
Rita loved music and sang in the St. Paul Lutheran Church Choir for more than 50 years and would burst out with a song for anyone she felt in need at the time. When Sunday came she made sure her purse was full of surprises for all the children and always had Easter Bunnies for all at Easter.
As shopping was one of her favorite past time Rita never met a stranger and prayed for anyone in the store and witnessed by asking “Do you believe Jesus died for your sins” then she would pray and kiss them. She loved dancing and was proud of her time as a dance instructor.
Rita is survived by her brother-in-law, WT Waggoner Estate family, church family and her extended family and friends that care for her deeply.
