Walter Grey Scott, Jr.

 

   QUANAH – Walter Grey Scott, Jr., 98, formerly of Quanah, died on Wednesday, April 6, 2016, in Lubbock. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Quanah Memorial Park with Butch Tabor officiating. Interment under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.
  Scott was born April 25, 1918 to the late Walter Grey Scott, Jr. and Mary Harris Scott in Goodlett. He married Vera Faye Gholson on Jan. 15, 1959 in Wichita Falls. She preceded him in death on Nov. 7, 1997.  He served in the United States Army during World War II. When he returned from the Army, he worked for Mid Tex Plumbing, Georgia Pacific, South Cotton Oil and The Casa Royal. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
   Scott is survived by two daughters, Rena Kay Oldham of Lubbock and Mary Ann Scott of Plano; one son, Walter Grey Scott III of Fort Worth; two brothers, Marion Scott of Baytown and Clyde Scott of Montgomery, Ala., and three grandchildren.
   Family visitation will be Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Smith Funeral Home.
