Janet Jones, 80, of Quanah, passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2016, in Crowell. Services are scheduled for 1 p.m., Friday, April 22, 2016, at The First Christian Church with Rev. Monte Lumpkin officiating. Interment will follow at Quanah Memorial Park under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.
Mrs. Jones was born Jan. 24, 1936 to the late John Dennis and Virginia Rose Risinger in Quanah. She married James E. “Jimmy Jones” Jones, on Aug. 20, 1955 in Quanah. He preceded her in death on Jan. 8, 2016. She worked at the Quanah Independent School District as a teacher’s aide, Hardeman County Library, and the Quanah Sale Barn. She volunteered for the city and county elections and was a member of The First Baptist Church.
Survived by: two daughters, Connie Johnston and husband Lynn, Wichita Falls, and Candra Cade and husband Jim, Iraan, TX; one brother, Spencer Earl Risinger, Quanah; three grandchildren: Keeley Johnston, Creed Cade, Call and wife Aurora Cade; four great-grandchildren, Willow, Olive, Rose and Cash Cade. She was preceded in death by a brother, Dennis Risinger.
Family visitation will be Thursday, April 21, 2016 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church of Quanah and Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch.
