John Arthur Jackson

   John Arthur Jackson, 78 of Vernon, died on Tuesday, May 10, 2016, in Vernon. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, May 16, 2016 at Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Thomas officiating. Interment will be held at Quanah Memorial Park under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.
    Jackson was born Wednesday, Aug. 11, 1937 in Bryan Mills. He was the son of the late Howard Jackson and the late Pearl Johnson Jackson. He married Herron Jones on Jan. 26, 1983 in Quanah. He was a security guard for Vernon State Hospital for nine years. He served in the United States Air Force SSGT. for 20 years. As a missile transport he operated cranes for the missile sites in 1975. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.
   He is survived by his wife, Herron Jackson of the home; one son, Darren Jackson of Tucson, Ariz., and one daughter, Hope Jackson of Tucson, Ariz.; four step children,  Daryl Jones of Brighton, Colo., Marshall Williams of Las Vegas, Nev., Angelia Williams of Vernon, and ntoine Williams of Tennessee Colony; two  sisters, Louise Slay of Albuquerque, N.M., and Quoquez Edmonson of Vernon; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
   He was preceded in death by two sons, Tony Jackson and John Jackson, Jr.; two sisters, Arnie Polk and Anita Guy, one brother Theorphus (Cooter) Jackson.
   Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at Sullivan Funeral Home.
