Bill D. Parker
Bill D. Parker, age 81, of Quanah, passed away, Friday, May 20, 2016 in Dallas. Services will be held at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at the Church of Christ with Terry Allen, Larry Delong and Dr. Mike Parker officiating. Interment to follow at Quanah Memorial Park under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Quanah.
Mr. Parker was born July 28, 1934 to the late William Jennings Bryan and Mabel Bennie Scoggin Parker in Olustee, OK. He married Helen Wilkins, Feb. 12, 1955 in Gould, Okla. He was a farmer/rancher and had lived in Quanah since coming in 1954 with the Frisco Railroad. He was a dedicated member and Deacon at the Church of Christ of Quanah; He was a board member of the Lower Pease River SWCD, one of the founding directors of the Gateway Ground Water Conservation, director of the Quanah Farmer’s Co-op and a Former Quanah Independent School District board member. He was a graduate of Olustee High School.
He is survived by: his wife, Helen Parker, Quanah; one son, Randel Parker and fiancée, Jan Melton, Quanah; three granddaughters, Valerie Brooke Parker Wright and husband Chris, Quanah; Vanessa Bren Parker Willden and husband Travis, Quanah, and Victoria Beth Parker, Quanah; three great-grandchildren, Dane, Emma and Wes Willden, Quanah; one brother, Dr. Mike Parker and wife Sandra, Colorado Springs, Colo.; one sister-in-law, Sandra Parker, Norman, Okla.; Loyal K-9 Companions, Pattie and Maggie Parker. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Robert R. (Bob) Parker.
The family has requested memorials be sent to the Church of Christ, Quanah, Quanah Alumni Association, or QAMP Museum.
The family visitation will be at Smith Funeral Home Monday, May 23, 2016 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
