Louis Thurman James

   Funeral services for Louis Thurman James, who died on May 22, 2016, will be held Thursday, May 26, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Greg Johnston officiating. Interment will be at the Thalia Cemetery under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.
   James was born on Oct. 21, 1924 in Crowell and was raised in Thalia. He was the son of the late Marion Baxter James and the late Mae Lorine Edwards James of Thalia. He was a graduate and salutatorian of the Thalia High School class of 1943. He was a World War II veteran and enlisted in the United States Navy. He served on the USS Salt Lake City from 1943-1946
   He spent most of his life in Vernon and was a member of the Church of God.
    He is survived by one brother, Charles Albert James of Vernon; one sister Doris Jean Bingham of Rockport, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by Frank James, Weldon James, and Ima James Lucas.
   Visitation will be Wednesday May 25, 2016 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Sullivan Funeral Home.
   Memorials can be made to the Church of God or Congregate Meals.
