Mary Bell Fields Lancaster

 

   Mary Bell Fields Lancaster, 86 of Vernon, died on Tuesday, June 7, 2016, in Crowell. Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., on Friday, June 10, 2016 at Eastview Cemetery with the Rev. Gary Chapman officiating. Services are under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.
   Lancaster was born Sunday, Feb. 2, 1930, in Wilbarger County. She was the daughter of the late Ben Fields and the late Etha Smith Fields. She married Cecil Raymond Lancaster on July 3, 1951 in Vernon. He preceded her in death in 1973. She graduated from Vernon High School in 1947. She attended college at TCU in Fort Worth, becoming an RN. While at college she met her husband. Following his career as a pilot, she worked as a nurse in hospitals in Shreveport, La, Houston, and Fort Worth including the Fort Worth Women’s Clinic. After the death of her husband, she returned to Vernon. She was a Christian, attending the Calvary Baptist Church for most of her life until a few years ago when she joined Vernon Baptist Church
   Survivors are a son, Larry Lancaster of Vernon; a daughter, Celia Gentry of Vernon, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her brothers, J.D., Truman, Bennie and Dudley Fields.
