Fred Adam Gerhardt
CROWELL – Fred Adam Gerhardt, 72, of Crowell, died on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 in Crowell. Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m., Friday, June 24, 2016 at the Crowell Cemetery with the Rev. Gilbert Rodriquez of Graham officiating with interment in Crowell Cemetery under the direction of Womack-Manard Funeral Home, Crowell.
Gerhardt was born on March 12, 1944 in Fort Sumner, N.M., a son of the late Max and Adela Barela Gerhardt Sr. He married Sally Rodriquez on Nov. 6, 1967 in Plainview. He moved to Crowell in 1971. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, where he received the following: Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with Two Bronze Service Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device, Combat Infantryman Badg; and Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm. He was a former employee for the Foard County Sheriff’s Department and worked as a Park Ranger at Copper Breaks State Park for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Sally Gerhardt of the home; one daughter, Lorrie Bell of Crowell; two sons, Glen Gerhardt and Buck Gerhardt, both of Crowell; two sisters, Stella Almaguer of Watonga, Okla., and Clara Garcia of Ogden, Utah; one brother, Max Gerhardt of Crowell and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister, Sally Mata, and one brother, John Gerhardt.
