Tena Ruth Lambeth Janis

   Tena Ruth Lambeth Janis, 95 of Vernon, died on Wednesday, June 22, 2016, in Vernon. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 25, 2016 at Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be held at Eastview Cemetery under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.
   Janis was born Saturday, July 17, 1920 in Sadler. She was the daughter of the late Charles Adams and the late Julia Mae Proffitt Adams. She married O.B. (Red) Lambeth in 1947 He preceded her in death in 1972 she later married Forrest Lee Janis in 1977, and he preceded her in death in 1995. She had lived in Vernon for over 80 years. She was a graduate of Wilbarger General Hospital School of Nursing. She earned a sociology degree from the University of Texas. She was a lifetime member of  the Congress PTA, regional state vice president of PTA and 13th District President of PTA, She wrote a meditation column for the Texas Parent Teacher Publication for three years. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church.
   She is survived by two daughters, Laura McLean of Vernon and  Gladys E. Lee, M.D., of Great Falls, Mont.; one sister,  Gladys Grubble of Florida; three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Viola Finch.
   Visitation will be Friday, June 24, 2016 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Sullivan Funeral Home.
   Memorials can be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls.
