Beatrice Palmer James

   Beatrice Palmer James, 71 of Vernon, died on Saturday, July 16, 2016, in Wichita Falls. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at 2 p.m. at the First Assembly of God with Rev. Phillip Weitner of Alvord, Rev. Brian Pounds of Vernon, and Rev. Harold Moore of Wellington, officiating. Interment will follow at Wilbarger Memorial Park. Services are under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.
   Beatrice was born Sunday, Aug. 20, 1944 in Vernon. She was the daughter of the late Dewey Palmer and the late Beatrice Stockel Palmer. She married Charles James on Aug. 4, 1961 in Foard County. She had been a resident of Vernon all of her life. She was a 1962 graduate of Vernon High School. She was a long time member of the Church of the Nazarene in Vernon and was a current member of the First Assembly of God in Vernon. She had been a volunteer at the Wilbarger County Humane Society, an avid reader, and she loved to visit with friends on Facebook. She was a retired Domestic Goddess, enjoyed her cat Bear, and her grandchildren and her great-grandson were her pride and joy.
   Surviving is her husband, Charles James of the home; one son, Mark James and wife Mary of Vernon; two daughters, Tami Phillips and husband Roger of Vernon,  and Jennifer Newcomer and husband Tracy of Vernon; three grandchildren, Stormy Phillips of Vernon, Cory Newcomer and wife Taylor of Canyon, and Camden Newcomer of Vernon; one great-grandson, Graham Phillips of Vernon.
   She was preceded in death by brothers, Jack Palmer on Oct. 26, 2010, D.H. Palmer on June 3, 2011, Paul Palmer on Oct. 27, 2013 and Kenneth Palmer on April 2, 1992, and one sister, Dorothy Palmer on March 23, 1922.
   Memorials may be made to the Wilbarger County Humane Society, Rathgaber Hospitality House or the First Assembly of God.
