Robert Steven Brown

   Robert Steven Brown went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 in Vernon, Texas.
   Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Gib Baskerville officiating. Interment will follow at Eastview Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.
   Steve was born April 19, 1951 in Lubbock, Texas. He was the son of June and Doug Brown. He graduated from Vernon High School in 1969 and from Texas Tech University in 1974 with a BBA. He married Janel Ann Bolton on May 22, 1971. Steve lived most of his life in Vernon. Steve was the former vice president of Crown Quality Seed and later was Program Director for Texas Foundation Seed Service. He was also a member of the Association of Official Seed Certifying Agencies and the Texas Seed Trade Association. He was the recipient of the Texas A&M AgriLife Vice Chancellor’s Award in Excellence in recognition of excellence as a member of the TAM Wheat Improvement Team in Team Collaboration in 2012.
   Steve will be remembered for his robust laughter, gregarious personality, his great love and devotion to his family and friends and his special love for his canine friends, Don and Karlie.
   He was a member of the First Baptist Church and a past member of the Vernon Lions Club and the Palomino Club where he served as rodeo chairman for many years.
   Steve is survived by his wife, Jan of the home; son Matthew and wife Mary Ann of London, U.K.; his parents June and Doug Brown of Omaha, Texas; his brother, Alan Brown and wife Charlotte of Branson, Missouri; his sister Nancy Sosolik and husband Benton of Waco, and the joys of his life, his granddaughters, Madelyne Brown of Lubbock, Texas and Florence and Eadie Blaker Brown of London, U.K. He called Jan, Madelyne, Florence and Eadie his beautiful girls.
   He was preceded in death by a son, Robert of Lubbock, Texas and his brother Monty of Lorena, Texas.
   The family requests that memorials be made to the Santa Rosa Rodeo Association or the Palomino Club.
