Paddy Neeley Stewart
Paddy Neely Stewart , 81 of Vernon, died on Monday, Aug. 1, 2016 in Vernon, Tx. Services will be held on Friday, Aug. 5, 2016 at 10 a.m., at Central Christian Church with the Rev. Jim Antwine officiating. Interment will be held at Wilbarger Memorial Park under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.
Paddy was born Feb. 22, 1935 in Vernon. She was the daughter of the late Paul Neely and the late Emily Daniels Peterson. She married James Ronald Stewart on Aug. 31, 1956 in Odessa. He preceded her in death July 12, 1985. She had been a resident of Vernon all of her life. She worked for Vernon College for many years and then retired she was an author with three published books and a writer and wrote for the Vernon Daily Record and the Wichita Times Record News. She was commissioned to write a 25 year history of the Vernon College. She had many interests including the Parent–Teacher Association, the Federation of Church Women, the Musicians Club, the Mozart Club, and the founder of Vernon Civic Theatre, the Vernon Art League and the Red River Valley Museum Guild. She was a singer and director of the choir at the Central Christian Church. She was chairman and instrumental in the building of the gazebo in Orbison Park. She was a member of the Central Christian Church.
She is survived by her three sons, Kelly Stewart and wife Glenda of Flower Mound, Jimmy Stewart and wife Sabina of Vernon, and Jeff Stewart and wife Deana of Vernon; one daughter, Stacy Prehn of Bandera, Tx.; one sister, Karen Lewis and husband Keith of Vernon; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her father, mother and step-father Virgil (Pete) Peterson.
Visitation will be Thursday from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Sullivan Funeral Home.
Memorials can be made to Musician Club or Hospice of Wichita Falls.
