Chillicothe, Crowell place at district tennis tourney

Crowell placed first while Chillicothe placed second at the Class 1A District Tennis Tournament held Monday in Vernon. Both teams will advance to the regional playoffs on April 12 in San Angelo.
The first four places in girls’ singles (by order of finish) were Kelly Carroll, Crowell; Jimena Sanchez, Chillicothe; Ingefred Ankerstine, Knox City; and Alyssia Patrick, Northside.
In girls’ doubles, the top four places (by order of finish) were held by Chillicothe’s Melania Correa and Ryan Knowles, Crowell’s Paig Moya and Seanna Trainham, Crowell’s Tara Manney and Kinley Moore, and Chillicothe’s Lyndzie Disbrow and Miranda Perkins.
Mason Belcher of Chillicothe placed first in boys’ singles while the next three places were held by Colt Gerhardt of Crowell Dylan Carney of Crowell and Jaron Marsh of Chillicothe.
In boys’ doubles, Seth Bearden and Colby Carroll of Crowell placed first while Chillicothe’s Logan Pulis and Armondo Granados placed second, Crowell’s Jonal Lane and Aaron McGregor placed third and Chillicothe’s Adyn Haynes and Alexa Alarcon placed fourth.
In mixed doubles, Munday’s Cameron Thornton and Alison Joselet placed first while Northside’s Kennan Bria and Morgan Abernathy was second, Crowell’s Ashton Shaw and Rusken Turyla placed third and Knox City’s Preston Lynn and Makayla Cline placed fourth.
In JV boys’ singles, Crowell’s Caleb Smith placed first while Crowell’s Simn Rodriguez was second, Chillicothe’s Alex Guffey was third and Munday’s Justin Trawell placed fourth.
In JV girls’ singles action, Harrold’s Andi McWilliams placed first while Munday’s Saylor Drury was second, Chillcothe’s Shelby Simank was third and Chillicothe’s Joselin Garcia placed fourth.

Chillicothe’s Miranda Perkins returns a volley for the Lady Eagles in mixed doubles action. Perkins teamed with Lyndzie Disbrow to claim fourth place in girls doubles at the district meet, held in Vernon on April 1.
