Drivers license office to cut back days open

The Texas Department of Public Safety’s driver’s license office hours are changing – at least temporarily.
Wilbarger County Judge Greg Tyra confirmed this week that the Vernon DPS drivers license office, located in the basement of the county courthouse, would be open only two days a week beginning in August due to the impending retirement of the DPS’ Sharon Goins.
“My understanding is the change is only temporary,” Judge Tyra said.
DPS Staff Sgt. Dan Buesing said that the change would occur beginning the week of Aug. 5.
Sgt. Buesing said that the Vernon office will be open every Wednesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3:30.
“For the Quanah office we will be open every 2nd and 3rd Tuesday of the month from 9:30 to 3 p.m.,” Buesing said. “The times are subject to change and will be posted on website.”
