Cynthia “Cindy” McIntyre

Cynthia “Cindy” McIntyre of Lawton, formerly of Quanah, died Saturday morning, Sept. 14, 2019, in Oklahoma City.  She was 65

.A funeral service was held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 21, 2019 at Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Smith officiating.  Interment followed at Goodlett Cemetery. Visitation was held Friday evening at the funeral home.

Cynthia Diane McIntyre was born July 25, 1954 in Albany, Georgia to Bobby and Margaret (Barnes) Harden.

After losing her sight in 1986, she graduated from the University of Southern Colorado with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work.  She worked at Youth Ville as an advocate for troubled kids, and at Independent Living Center teaching disabled living skills.  She was a member of Lawton Council of the Blind and Guide Dogs for the Blind.

Cindy was baptized at the First Baptist Church in Lawton, and had attended the First Baptist Church while residing in Quanah.

She is survived by a son, Brian (Jamie) McIntyre of Liberal, Kansas; a daughter, Stacie (Justin) Winchell of Liberal, Kansas; her father, Bobby Harden of Kingsland, Texas; one brother, David Harden of Austin, Texas; four grandchildren, Amanda, Shelby, Maggie, and Ashlynd; and two great grandchildren, Kash and Lane.

The family suggests that memorials may be made to Lawton Council for the Blind.
