Cheryl Kay Pittman
Cheryl Kay Pittman, formerly of Quanah, passed away Thursday morning, Nov. 7, 2019 in Athens, Texas. She was 75.
A funeral service is planned for 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 16, 2019, at Smith Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. David Smith will officiate. Interment will follow at Quanah Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 6-7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 15 at Smith Funeral Home.
Cheryl was born May 4, 1944 in Quanah to Wayne and Ada (Smith) Preston. She married Bill Pittman in 1975 at Eldorado, Okla.
She was a graduate of Quanah High School. She received a Bachelor’s degree in music from West Texas A&M University, and went on to Texas Women’s University, where she received a Master’s degree in music. She enjoyed a career as a private voice and music teacher, and had worked as a music teacher at MHMR in Vernon.
Cheryl was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Quanah, and will be remembered as a humble, kind and loving woman who loved Christ and lived like it.
Survivors include a daughter, Gigi Grant of Dallas; two sons, Kip Pittman of Quanah, and Andrew Pittman of Vernon; a sister, Vicki Dossett of Athens, Texas; and three grandchildren, Kaden, Kaleb and Kloe Pittman of Quanah.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill in 2015; son, Joshua in 2016; and a brother, Cyd Preston on Sept. 26, 2019.
So sorry for your loss Andrew, Kip and Gigi. Your mom was a very sweet loving person. I always appreciated her kindness and love she showed for her stepson Clifton Pittman. He loved her dearly.
