Garland W. Gibbs, 87 of Vernon, Texas died on Thursday, Nov. 26, 2020, in Vernon, Texas.Graveside service were Monday, Nov. 30, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Eastview Cemetery under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.Garland was born Saturday, Aug. 19, 1933 in Truscott, Texas. He was the son of the late C.D. Gibbs and the late Kate Fultz Gibbs. He married Doris Kathleen Jouett on June 7, 1957 in Vernon, Texas. He serviced in the U.S. Army 1954-1956. He was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service retiring in 1992. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, and taught Senior Adult Sunday School Class for 23 years.Garland is survived by his wife Doris Gibbs of the home; two daughters, Gayle Boyd and husband David of Vernon, Texas and Janice Kieschnick and husband Trent of Vernon, Texas; brother, Ralph Gibbs of San Jose, Calif.; fi ve grandchildren Craig Boyd, Lyndi Boyd Persinger, Tanner Kieschnick, Katelyn Kieschnick Gardner, and Landee Kieschnick; two great-grandchildren Cash Persinger, and Kingston Kieschnick. He was preceded in death by six brothers Elmer Gibbs, Charles Gibbs, J.D. Gibbs, Daymon Gibbs, Kenneth Gibbs, and Grady Gibbs.     My sincere condolences and prayers to the family. The Gibbs family was an important part of my life when I was growing up attending Second Baptist Church. Garland was a very special man and will be greatly missed.
