VC trustees extend president’s contract, sell land to hotel owner
The Vernon College board of trustees appointed Betsy Smith to fill the unexpired term of Anne Spears, who resigned from her place on the board in January. The action was part of the February board of trustee meeting last Wednesday.
The trustees accepted a bid of $140,001 from Joe Rogers, of Rogers Lodging, to purchase a 3.41 acre tract of college-owned land located adjacent to the located
north of the Holiday Inn Express.
The trustees approved the extension of President Dusty Johnston’s contract by 0ne-year, to make it a three-year contract, dated September 1, 2021 to August 31, 2024. One year extensions, to make two-year contracts, were also approved for Dr. Elizabeth Crandall, Vice-President of Instructional Services; Mindi Flynn, Vice-President of Administrative Services; Kristin Harris, Dean of Student Services; and Shana Drury, Dean of Instructional Services. The new contracts for each will be dated September 1, 2021 to August 31, 2023.
